Making a Server

currently, I'm trying to make a server out of spare parts :)
These are the 411 as of now:

Processor: P1 120mhz
OS: Damn Small Linux
RAM: 40mb
HDD1: 1gb
HDD2: 80gb

... pretty much nothing else. LOL. What I did was took an old Pentium 1 PC by PackerBell that I had when i was in 3rd grade, and added a second HDD to it that i just bought this weekend. That old PC did not have a 10/100, so i bought a USB card for it, and i am using a USB wireless adaptor :)

I know, that's a pathetic box. LOL

last time i think i told you about Fedora Core 4 on the Laptop, but after installing FC on the 800mhz laptop, my 3ghz desktop felt slow. so this morning-2AM- i downloaded and installed SuSE 10.

WOW, this thing is eye candy. the GUI here is Filled with pretty graphics, it's great. i'll post screenshot later-when i learn how to get on my LAN from SuSE -_-

my sis has this laptop that my uncle gave to her that he got from e-bay. its 800mbz, so XP was slow on it.
i, being the genious that i am, installed Linux on it :D

The last mission was a crazy one-crazy as in real. You needed to kill "Fat Cat" and "Kitten," who were terrorist leaders. They were hiding in a bombed city that was filled with destroyed buildings. it was me and Fire Team=4 people total. How many Tangos were there? a lot.

it felt and look JUST like faluja. You were getting fired at from 360 degrees. The terrorists were mostly equipted with AKs, some grenade launchers, and a few snipers. The grenade launcher launchers sucked the most. They could wipe out the 2 if the shot was good.

I ended up equiping everyone with M4A2 submachine guns and m122 pistols. The maped rout was to do an S threw the main street, but i didn't like that route-you always got fired at from all sides. So I ended up flanking the city. :) it works great if you have good accuracy.
it took me a whole hour of trying just for that level. :)

Anyways... guess what I found out? After you finished that level, you get promoted! i went form ensigned to Lt :)... and now you get to play the game over again with more guns and harder AI >_>. OH NO! Here goes all my time again.. :(

its cool, cuz now you get grenade launchers, AK-47, AKS-74, this one really good sniper rifel, and a lot more guns that i forgot :) OH NO! MY ADDICTION WILL KEEP ON GOING! :o

btw, the top rank is Admiral. i thought it would be General, but then i relize the full name of the game is: "Socom US NAVY seals." And there's no generals in the NAvy, but Admirals.

Hey all! I finaly changed my GUI... well... short of changed.

I now have a thing for the Milk theme. Tiger was getting old on me. iChat changed from Siro to Milk, to match the GUI. The wallpaper, Millenium, stayed the same. And Avedesk 1.3 is cool.

2. Download Adobe PhotoShop CS2 v9.0 from one of the links above.

vsmon.exe is taking up all my CPU resources

I just had a problem with vsmon.exe, i googled it, and found out other people are having problems too. vsmon.exe is ZoneAlarm. it was running at 70% on the task manager's process gauge.

yeah, 70% is a lot of processing for any pc. My 3.0ghz P4 was going s-l-o-w.

I coun't find any answers on how to fix vsmon.exe on google, but by chance i found out how to solve it myself.

what happened is that i start up my PC and when i log in, vsmon.exe uses all my resources; other people have it where there system is left on idol for a few hours, and then vsmon.exe hogs up resources.

so what's going on? its simple, ZoneAlarm is programmed to do a virus scan in the background every so often. that is why vsmon.exe is using so much resources, cuz your doing a virus scan. just go to ZoneAlarm>virus scan and if it says that it is currently scanning, stop it, it should stop vsmon.exe from using all your system resources. simple as that :)

Microwave ovens

Microwave ovens are composed of magnetron, microcontroller, waveguide, and cooking chamber. The Magnetron is composed a vacuumed lobed chamber that has a cathode that pulses at a high negative potential thanks to the 1,000 watts the average microwave consumes. There exists a perpendicular magnetic field in the magnetron due to the magnets attached to it. The magnetic field causes electrons to move outwardly, not directly to the anode as it normally would. Along the rim of the chamber are cylindrical cavities, which are connected at the end. As the electrons move outwardly, and move across these cavities, they produce a high frequency radio field, which causes the electrons to bunch into groups. An antenna is attached to the chamber, which extracts a portion of the field, and sends it to a wave guide, which directs the energy into the cooking chamber.

The quick heating of a microwave oven is due to the microwaves passing by the molecules and exciting it. Only bipolar molecules, such as: water, which has a slight negative oxygen and two slightly positive hydrogen; Lipids; and glucose are heated up in a microwave oven. The molecules rotate when the waves pass by. They would line themselves up with the wave, and when the wave alternates, the molecule will re-line up to the wave again. This movement of molecules causes an increase in kinetic energy and heat is produced due to friction between the molecules. The heat that is produced at the molecular level heats up the food. Since food that is cooked in a microwave oven is organic, which is mostly water, fats, and sugars, the food is cooked rather quickly.

Microwave ovens are limited though. Since the frequency of the waves emitted from the oven only penetrates the outer part of the food. The rest of the food would need to be heated by convection, causing uneven heating. Uneven heating is also caused by different materials in the food. Water heats up faster than fats or sugars in a microwave, so the more liquid parts of the food would heat up faster then the fattier parts. The quickness of a microwave oven might result in food borne illnesses because the quickness might leave some bacteria alive in cooler spots. Microwave ovens do not give food its proper flavor. It is best used for leftovers, because it can not brown the outside of meats, and because it is so quick, the food does not go to the chemical changes that are required for some flavors.

Interesting facts about microwave ovens is that if you put a light bulb inside the oven, and turns the oven on, the light bulb turns on! Water can be superheated in a microwave if you boil it on the stove, let it cool, and then re-heat it in the microwave; this is very rare though. The microwave can cause fires if it is turn on with nothing inside to absorb the waves, causing a high concentration of waves in the magnetron. An egg can explode when you take it out of the microwave due to the pressure of steam. And everyone knows that you should not put aluminum foil in a microwave, but microwaving small solid peaces of metal, such as a spoon is fine, if you have something such as water to absorb the waves. That is why some microwaves have a metal rack in it.

it's really sad isn't it? how a whole city, which is a few times bigger then Grand Rapids got whiped out. How it is destroyed, as well as the areas around it. Sad.

I know 4 people from New Orleins. Kristy, Phung, and the two witnesses. I have no idea if Kristy or Phung is ok. and all i know about the two witnesses is that we went to Toronto with them.

it was snowing in Toronto, and those sisters never seen snow in there life. They went outside and played in the snow. Us michiganders looked at them like how a dad looks at there child playing. Yeah, those sisters were something.

Im guessing the sisters evacuated, and are now living at some other witnesses house. I heard that a few kingdom halls were damaged, and 2 are totaly destroyed.

I do feel happy because there are refugees from the huricane coming to live in the West YMCA building. :)

First Day of School is a Killer

Do you know what time i go to sleep in the summer? 3am. Do you know what time i have to wake up for school? 7am.

yeah, today was a terable day. I was laying on my bed last night. 1am came. 2am passed by. 3am hung around. i relized that if i do go to sleep, i won't be able to wake up at 7am.

so, YES! i did an all nighter!

School was not so fun, i was tired as hell-guess why?

when i got home, i passed out and feel asleep for 2 hours. its 9:30pm now, and i wanna finish my homework and study for the quiz tomorrow in bio and go to sleep early!

oh, by the way, im gonna bring a blanket and pillow to school now on ;-)

A Hub connects multiple pcs together, for things such as file sharing or an intranet.

Last Tae Kwon Do

All Good things have to come to an end right? No. But today, something Good did end, my Tae Kwon Do. It would of been almost a year since i started, but it had to end early. Just three days ago i was at testing to go from high green to low blue, and today i showed up to get my low blue belt.

As soon as Anh drove into the parking lot, Song and Sang seen me, they said "Wow, you are always dressed up." And i was dressed up, because it was my last day.

I went in to see David Lee standing there looking at me in my pink shirt, tie, and blazer. I told him it was my last day. I dont like his sisters (sorry if you're reading this David's sisters :X) but i somehow love that kid, and his cousin too. Those cute little elementry schoolers that make my saturdays and wednesdays fun. I'm gonna miss you David and Tim.

I went into room #2 like i always do to change. The lights were off, but i heard some laughing. Grace and Min were in there, eating apple sauce with straws. They asked why i was dressed up, i told them it was my last day. I felt like crying then (and i did inside). Min and Grace were playing around like they always do, in that cute way little 13 year old girls do. Man, I am going to miss you Min and Grace.

I went out and payed Mr. Good the money i owed him. i told him it was my last day, he could not believe it. He asked me if i was kidding, but i wish i was. He told me that i needed to come back and get my black belt; i wish i could.

I went inside room #3 to change into my uniform, and went out to get in line. The belt ceramoney started. I waited as three yellow belts, one orange belt, and one green belt went before me. Then it was my turn, my last turn. i got up wearing my full uniform, not just the pants and a t-shirt like everyone else and Mr. Good tied the belt on me. A brand new belt feels so good! He said that he will miss me-and I will miss you too Mr. Good, expecially how you work so hard to teach Tae Kwon Do, and of course, your jokes. I bowed and then went back into room #3 to change back into my blazer; people were supprised i didn't stay for class.

When i was done changeing i bowed as i walked into the main room, and waved Mr. Good and Paul good bye. So bye you guys, im gonna miss you.

When i just got outside, i seen someone i was waiting for, Ashley Moore, she came late, but i was just happy to see her. she just got back from spending a month in Florida. I talked to her for a few seconds. Our conversation was short. I had a smile on my face, but inside i was crying. i huged Ashley and got a picture.

Now why did i have to end something that i loved so much? Because a Witness can't do Tae Kwon Do. You need to "bend your sword into blow shares and learn war no more" and also dislike violence. It was ether end Tae Kwon Do, or stop going into the ministry. I'm sorry you guys, very sorry.

so, sarang hae yo :) and XOXO im gonna miss all you guys at Tae Kwon Do. Even you people that i did not see there today: Bryant, Jane, Jane's Bro (sorry, i can't think of your name right now), Grace and Sarah, Chris, and anyone else i can not think of right now. Bye :)

yestorday i went wave bordeing with Rayon, and my hands and legs hurt so much today >_>. when i got home yestorday, i could bearly make a fist with my hands, i could type with my thumbs. lol. im doing a little bit better today, i can type some what now, and can almost make a fist. but my forearm and legs still hurt. and i think im ether going to play pool today, or go and do work or go and cut bill's grass.

OH my! a scientist in japan made an android that looks more human then the wax scultures. it is scarry really. in iRobot, the androids were at lest metal, but now we might even be "fooled" by androids the article says. did you see the picture of that android? yeah, i was fooled right there. she can only sit because it is incredably hard to program something to walk, but our brains do it very easly.

Windows Vista is announced a few days ago, so, in a few more versions of the OS-by a few i mean... 2 cuz windows is always delayed-your new pc will be HOT! RAWR! LOL

if any of you have came over to my house lately, i would give you a tour of my room and all the free stuff i have in it. well, lets give that tour online! i took these pics yestorday, but i do have MORE free stuff from the web then this, but... someone misplaced them.... i had 15 Pat Tillman bracelets before, and one I Love Nurseing bracelet, and also a lime green conservation bracelet, all of which i lost-i gave the 15 pat tillman ones away because caring is sharing.

This is a pic of a free T shirt i got from the Apple store's grand opening at Woodland. ok, its not from the web, but its apple, you can not just say no to apple! why is it on the ceiling and not in my wardrobe? because its a XL and im a S, yes, apple did a "one size fit all" thing, so now it fits great on my wall with the pants i got @ A+F and my white caps hat that i never wear that matches that outfit. let me guess, you're going to put an outfit on your ceiling too?

i got this OPM in the mail in Junly. the issue is from April. that is why it's free. or, i filled out a survey requesting a demo for the game Cold Winter and apparently, the demo was in a OPM, and they just shipped me the OPM. i already read it when it was April at Dave's house, and i dont really care for games that much anymore, so it was nothing big, except for the fact that the game was REALLY fun.

Ahh, at last, something recent from PS. i got this 6 months ago during the holiday. it is a demo disk with games on it. it also came with a packet describing games from SCEA. you see all the stuff you get from the Underground once and a while? cool huh?

OH MY! what is this?! if you have no idea what IC was, it was a channel on US digital cable. it was called International Channel. it had shows from everywhere, vietnam all the way to germany. i was watching the channel at Dave's place, and they had an ad about iloveic.com and if you fill out the survey, you can get a free mouse pad. i love IC, so i just wanted something with there name on it, so i went there. the survey was a detailed survey about the people that watch IC. i think they found out that no immagrent from Europ watches it-because how many person from Europ do you know that still speaks there old languge? you love this melingpot that takes away culture huH?-and that only asians watch it. so now IC became.. here is some advice on filling out survey by someone who have done it a lot. ALWAYS TELL THE TRUTH! but you can lie on your age though ;-) and sometimes they require a business name, so do what i do, pick a local business, and put that in the company's name slot, cuz it is a company's name right? for the BFGoodrich survey (and most of the other surveys) i really knew nothing about them, so u pick the choices that show you have no idea for them, it helps them when they gather there statistics, and you still get your perks because answering consistantly means you dont lie, meaning you get the perk :-D

you all know that my Windows GUI is a Mac theme, and i hope that all of you know that OS X 10.4 has a built in wedge, well now you know, and its direct competition to the at once, Mac only application, Konfabulator. but a few months ago, konfabulator was ported to windows, and now its Free!

yes, go download konfabulator right now, get some cool wedges, and look at how good your desktop is looking! you can get wedges that tell you the weather, to the current news, to meta-search results. yes, wedges are really extentions of the web that is on your desktop. you can even get a FTP client wedge.

Konfabulator only works on Mac OS X, Windows XP and 2000, but if you dont have those OSes, you probally dont really care about tech stuff that much, and wedges are not shatering news to you. but for me, it is. so im currently downloading my copy of Konfabulator 2.1 and i am going to enjoy this.

and hey, i can stop looking for those konfabulator warez now, cuz this just totaly stoped there development. :P
